Shoeless Joe Shoal Tray

This adorable Shoal design tray is made from mango wood which is totally sustainable and hand-painted. They are photographically reproduced one at a time onto decal, which is heat transferred onto the wood.

Mango Wood is usually only harvested after the thriving Mango Fruit industry finds picking the fruits too dangerous, as within 15 years a Mango Wood tree can soar to 100ft high. To compare, an Oak Tree will reach this over a period of around 100 years. Once the fruit is picked for the last time, the tree is harvested and a new Mango Tree is planted in its place ready to harvest the next yield of fruit. The process of selling the Mango Wood is beneficial for the fruit farmers, as once upon a time, the wood would be burnt, whereas now, it generates extra income and in turn reduces air pollution.
