Healthy Homemade Granola

Whilst granola is full of fibre and other nutrients, store-bought versions can be full of hidden sugar and fats. If you're looking for a healthy alternative, try this quick and easy recipe which can be adapted to your tastes.  Eaten in moderation, granola can help fill you up, provide energy, and have a positive impact on blood glucose, blood pressure, cholesterol, weight.

A great way to start the day or just for a sneaky snack.

Ingredients

- Rolled oats

- Dried fruit - cranberries, strawberries, blueberries, coconut flakes or raisins all work well

- Nuts and seeds - walnuts, almonds, 

- 2-3 tablespoons Maple syrup or honey

- 2 tablespoons Coconut oil

- 2 teaspoons Ground Cinnamon

Method

1.  Preheat the oven to 180C and line a baking sheet with baking paper

2. Combine the oats, nuts, seeds in a bowl.

3. Drizzle with the coconut oil and maple syrup and season with cinnamon. Make sure everything is coated.

4. Add to the baking sheet and place in the oven for around 10 minutes, take it out and toss the ingredients and replace for another 10 minutes.

5. Once golden, remove and cool. Mix in the dried fruit.

6. Serve with yoghurt, milk or as a snack on its own.
