
How to make fresh homemade Italian Pesto - Recipe
Looking for a quick and easy way to make your own fresh Italian pesto? Surprisingly easy and absolutely delicious, try our recipe below:
Ingredients:
- half a clove of garlic
- a pinch of salt
- a handful of fresh basil leaves
- a handful of freshly grated parmesan
- a splash of olive oil
Method:
- Peel the garlic and pound it in a pestile and mortar with a pinch of salt
- Roughly chop the basil leaves and add - then grind to a paste
- Throw in the pine nuts and half of the parmesan and keep grinding
- Add a dash of olive oil to bind the ingredients
- Add the rest of the parmesan and some salt and pepper to taste
You can use this on pasta or in sandwiches for added flavour.

Pesto, or Pesto alla Genovese, is a sauce originating from Genoa, the capital city of Liguria, Italy. It traditionally consists of crushed garlic, pine nuts, salt, basil leaves, and Parmigiano-Reggiano or Pecorino Sardo, all blended with olive oil.
